Raipur: Intermittent rain for the last 48 hours has disturbed the entire Chhattisgarh including Raipur. Flood on the roads… Water in the streets… Water entered even the houses in many places and not a lot, some knee-deep and some more than 4 feet. Now no one has control over the rain, but what arrangements were made to deal with it? Why did water from drains and streets enter homes in Raipur? Why the problem of water drainage that occurs every year has not been solved yet? After all, why the city’s drains start flowing in the opposite direction in the rain and who is responsible for this chaos?

Incessant rain in Chhattisgarh for 3 days is bent on taking away everything. Rivers and drains of many districts are in spate, highways are closed. Water-logging conditions prevailed in many areas of the capital. The roads were filled with water up to 3 to 4 feet. From Katora Talab, Shankar Nagar, Sadar Bazar to low-lying areas of Raipur, Mowa and Saddu, the condition remained very bad. At some places, people were upset due to water entering the houses, while on the other hand the roads were jammed for hours after waterlogging. Politics has also started regarding the rain of disaster. Unhappy with the waterlogging, the BJP councilor party will gherao the municipal headquarters on Thursday. BJP is alleging that the government is not serious about waterlogging. While the money for disaster management is being spent on other items, the government has instructed all the collectors to remain alert in view of the situation of rain and floods.

Outside Raipur, the situation is even more serious. In Gariaband, 10 people are reported to be trapped at different places amid the flood situation created after heavy rains. District administration and SDRF teams are running the rescue operation together. In Mahasamund, many roads of the district have been closed due to rain in the last 24 hours, while 17 gates of Sikaser were opened after heavy rain in Gariaband, in which about 2 thousand cusecs of water was released. Several villages in the area have been submerged. Dhamtari has also been raining heavily for the last 6 hours, due to which low-lying settlements in many areas have been flooded. So the Kuleshwarnath temple, built at a height of 20 feet of Rajim, has submerged up to 8 feet of water.
