Raipur, Sep 27 (PTI) Following the alleged rape of a girl and molesting five other girl students at a hostel in Jashpur district in Chhattisgarh, the state government has directed a surprise inspection of all hostels.
Officials of Public Relations Department said on Monday that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, taking a strong stand on the incident in the hostel of Jashpur district, directed the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police of all the districts to conduct surprise inspections of all the hostels under their respective districts from time to time. has been instructed.
Officials said that the Chief Minister has directed all the district magistrates to deploy the duties of District Education Officer, Assistant Commissioner Tribal Development and other senior district level officers for inspection of government hostels.
He said that during the inspection, the inspecting officer would interact with the children living in the hostel and submit the report after taking feedback related to the activities conducted in the hostel. The Chief Minister has said that if any officer or employee working in government hostels is found negligent in discharge of duties during inspection or is found to be involved in unethical activities, then strict action will be taken against them.
Police officials said that on 22nd of this month, information was received about the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl and molestation of five other girls at the Divyang Hostel located in Jashpur district. The girls who are the victims of molestation are between 14 and 16 years of age.
Officials said that after getting information about the incident, the police had arrested the man and the watchman who was looking after the center on 24th.
He said that the District Magistrate of Jashpur has suspended the superintendent of that center Sanjay Ram and District Project Coordinator Vinod Paikra for not inspecting the training center properly and failing to issue necessary guidelines to the employees working there.
